Review on Mizuno RB Tour Golf Balls by Chris Wheeler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I liked RB Tour X and got good grades, but now I'm reviewing RB Tour, it's not that good.

The RB Tour X test below is an accurate test of the harder of the two balls. The RB Tour, the softer of the two at 91 compression, is a great ball and I enjoy playing it, but the main downside is coverage. If you get a one-ball round, consider yourself lucky. This ball cuts cover easily, and a hard wedge hit often enough damages the ball to put it out of play. As I said, I really like this ball, but the weakness of the cover keeps me from buying a dozen more. When they run out I'll go back to RB Tour X or maybe ProV 1. A friend gave me one to play with and I really liked it. The first review of the RB Tour X follows below: This Mizuno RB TourX is a tough golf ball. at 110 compression (RB Tour has 90 compression), but surprisingly I can get the same level of compression as with the lower Callaway Super Soft compression (38 compression). This surprised me and after playing it for a round I found it more accurate than the Super Soft. The occasional notch or hook was a lot less harsh on the Mizuno. On the green, this ball performs quite well and offers comfort. I've never been one to "twist" the ball, but this one holds the green well. When told it was a "hard" ball, I thought of the old bricks Top Flight used to make, but it doesn't compare to Top Flight in any way. I'm 71 years old and too old to worry about compression, tapes, ball covers and the like. I just need a ball that I can keep in play and get reasonable results with. I may be back on the RB tour just for comparison, but this ball will be in my pocket for a while.
