Weld torn after one use, it's dangerous. The outer flange is now so bent I can't even get it back into the case. I would request a refund if I could but my project was delayed due to a part being ordered. The best part is the "safety chain" if you can call it that, which pulled out of the wire clip when I was trying to install it. No security. Complete garbage.
I really wanted to use this machine and thought "finally a strong spring compressor". Well guess what, once I started using it the screws started flying off there were ball bearings nearby. Unfortunately I can't return it as I've only used it 2 months after receiving it. I'm waiting for my lift kit for my truck to arrive. I spent $200 plus for it. Can someone help me?
Pros
Sturdy storage case with step-by-step instructions.
This compressor was very easy to use and felt safe changing the springs on my 2019 Ford Ranger. This works well with cars and mid-size trucks. I would NOT recommend this for large full size trucks, let alone high definition trucks. This is a must have for light and medium trucks. Easy controls, everything works well, use a ratchet, not a percussion gun. It's quick with a ratchet.
It was very difficult to operate. Angle arms are missing, which could help grip the spring better. The shock absorber or strut is crooked and can slip. Also, the safety cables broke on first use. Not recommended. The seller was great. The item arrived quickly but was damaged. The replacement was sent quickly. Excellent customer care. I plan to inform them about the device. Let's see if something can be done, it's not their fault it's badly done. I'll follow if there's anything good to say.
Comes with a carrying case and permanently attached instructions. This is a very large rack compressor! The case is about the size of a small cooler, which is good. Make sure your bench/vise is big enough to hold the total weight and you have a good counterweight (or ground anchor) as a flimsy vise won't hold it in place (again, that's good) . It wasn't in stock when I ordered, but Revain got it to my doorstep within 5 days. You are therefore welcome to order, even if the item is not in stock.
I have had several sets of spring compressors and they all seemed life threatening. So I splurged on them a little. Pep Boys wanted to spend over a thousand to replace 4 shelves so I bought this and glad I did. It made that job as simple as changing spark plugs. I fastened it to my vise, put in the spring and post and hit it with one punch, and in a few seconds the spring was compressed. Pulled the frame out and put a new one in. A must for the DIY workshop. Just note that the case is the size…
Do not buy. This thing is dangerous. I made a rack and it worked fine. Following the instructions, I made a second frame and compressed the spring. Some clamp in the gut broke off. Compressor guts collapsed. Now, as I write this, I've been compressing a spring in this piece of shit sitting in my vise. He will not be fired. I call the company and of course nobody answers. So I gotta get my pen out somehow without killing myself. I liked you, I read reviews and even saw videos of people using it.
