AV Cooling System Application

I created a system to cool an AV cabinet in a closet. Components include Aventage, Emotiva, and Oppo. The cooling equipment used includes: 1. Noctua fans (3) (Model No. NF-S12A PWM)2. Noctua Fan Controller (Model No. NA-FC1)3. Noctua Extension Cable (Model # NA-SEC1)4. Cablemod Molex to SATA Cable (Model # CM-CAB-MSAP 45KK-R)5. Coolerguys power supply (110 VAC to 12 VDC power supply with 4-pin Molex connector). Of course, the anti-vibration corners protect the AV equipment and prevent the fans from moving. The distance between the top of each AV component and the top shelf is approximately 4 inches. This seems to provide adequate airflow. All Noctua components were beautifully packaged and worked perfectly straight out of the box. very quiet and effectively keeps components below 30 degrees Fahrenheit Noctua's fan controller is tiny - about the size of a human thumb When setting up the system, I turned to Noctua for technical assistance. prompted and provided great instructions on how to hook up the power to the speed controller (cablemod connector). The cablemod has solid connections and works well. The only thing that would be nice would be an outer sheath to keep all four wires together for a cleaner look. . The Coolerguys power supply looks nice and works well for powering three fans. In general the system has been running for about 1 month and I am quite satisfied with every component. and would recommend them to anyone looking for an efficient cooling system for their AV cabinet.

Pros
  • Nonstop mode: Prevents the fan speed from dropping below 300 RPM to avoid BIOS fan errors.
Cons
  • Doubt
