I revisited this description after spending hours trying to open the ring. My husband also tried and couldn't do it. I joked that it was a puzzle ring, but now see that the little nylon thing that looks like a guitar pick is supposed to be used to open it. I was afraid to pry it open, but seemingly that is what you are supposed to do. That makes it almost entirely useless. When I was a kid my great aunt had a poison ring (which I was fascinated with). She used it to carry saccharine. When she went out to lunch she would order tea and drop a couple of the tiny pills from her ring into the cup. Now, if you can not open the ring without a specialty tool, it makes it very much less useful.It would have been better if it came with some sort of instructions. I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to open it and destroyed my nails. So, if you want to use this as a container, you need to carry a tool?The ring itself has a pretty design. The quality? Though it is stamped 925 it does not look like sterling., unless it is coated with something. It looks more like chrome or plating. Whatever it is, it makes it look cheap. The price is completely out of line with the quality.I had been looking forward to this, thought it would be fun. I did not have a specific use in mind. but liked it for what it was, a "poison ring". It only is, if you can open it, which is difficult or impossible. The little tool that comes with it is too thick to fit in the slot. Now that I know it needs to be pried open with a tool, I might be able to do it because I have jewelers' tools.but I never considered carrying them with me, to open a locket, or something like.Extremely badly designed.
