A reviewer gave one star because these plates did not have a code or seal. I think they meant "uncoated" but that's why we decided to buy them. Microwaving food made from plastics of any kind or on plastic-coated paper has the potential to introduce chemical toxins into the food. Coated paper plates are perfect for picnics or snacks because they don't soak through as quickly as uncoated paper. If you intend to use them this way, be sure to buy coated plates, but the heading of this listing on the pack of 300 paper plates specifically states that they are "UNCOATED". You should not berate a product that describes exactly what you are buying. We are happy with our purchase.
