We've been using one for over a year.

.and our now 17 month old grandson still loves it (good for balance development). We used it when it was 6 months old and it has been hitting and sitting and standing on floating objects ever since. All this is useful for developing strength and balance. I never expected it to last this long, but it still holds water without leaking after a full year of use.
