Review on KIMO 12V 3” Cordless Polisher Kit - Car Buffer, 2.0Ah Battery & Fast Charger, Variable Speed And 4 Pads For Detailing/Scratch Repair by Wayne Martin

This KIMO cordless polisher is just the right size for tight spaces and spot repairs when removing scratches and/or polishing areas on the finish of a car or truck. The variable speed is very helpful when buffing out scratches from paintless dent repair, paint touchup, or just scratches and scuffs in general. It’s important to start out slow when using a polishing compound as paint is easily removed at higher speeds. Learning the correct pressure is also important and even though this KIMO polisher is easily stopped at the lowest speed setting with too much pressure, it reminds you that lighter pressure is better to start with. When removing the dried polishing compound or wax, the higher speeds are great and there is plenty of power for high speed buffing. I would not use this tool to wax or buff an entire car but for the tight areas and corners or removing scratches in a specific area on the car this is perfect. This polisher is the perfect size between the small rotary tool buffing wheels and the larger 10” orbital buffers. It's also nice not to have to deal with a power cord draping over the vehicle body creating cord scuffs on the paint.This polisher also works well on tile to remove grime or stains. I used it on a compact disk that wouldn’t play due to deep scratching and now it works great. I’m sure there are many other uses for cleaning or buffing around the house.I like how easily changes are made between the various pads that come with the unit. Hook and loop fasteners make pad changes so quick and cleaning of the pads much faster. The life of the battery charge depends on the speed setting that is being used of course but I never thought it was unreasonably short. It is always best to have a fully charged backup battery available so your don’t have to stop and wait for a charge. It’s nice that other KIMO cordless tools use the same battery so if you have another KIMO 12V product the battery will most likely fit. Recharge time takes less than one hour. I do wish this unit had a battery charge indicator on the polisher like KIMO did with their cordless ratchet. I guess this is the only thing I would change.Initially I thought having a handle to the side or over the pad would be helpful but this is not a deal breaker since this tool is really lightweight and easy to maneuver. I didn’t notice any fatigue using it with just one hand. I’ve been very happy with my other KIMO tools and this polisher is another one I would recommend.
