I've been using them for the occasional woodwork job with hand tools for almost four years. This is a classic design that works very well. My vise is maple lined on both jaws, plus some leather on the outer jaw. There is one major downside I see with the vise and that is the quick release mechanism. It was great while it worked, but the flat bar under the vise that rotates to loosen the lead screw wouldn't hold. It rolls easily. The jaws will now release at a certain clamping force (force varies). I put off changing the vise because I usually get enough clamping force, but it's not ideal. I have one small complaint. I managed to break the metal holding the slide latch by applying too much force to it. I replaced it and added a section of flat steel bar to support it and it worked fine.
