Great little UV lamp

First off, this isn't a $200 lamp with a high efficiency UV filter and 10,000 lumens. This is a fairly inexpensive, well-made UV lamp that is excellent value for money. I use it to illuminate glass and UV reactive minerals and for that purpose it's excellent. The beam is bright enough in UV light to illuminate UV-sensitive objects from 10 to 20 feet away, even in well-lit rooms. You may need a dark room for weekly reactive substances like biological stains. The lens forms a beam from a single UV LED quite well. A focusable beam would be nice, but it's pretty narrow and I can't imagine it ever getting wider. It's certainly a lot better than lamps that use an array of LEDs. They emit some light in the visible spectrum but they are way better than many other lights I've seen. The visible color is a pale whitish blue that is only visible on totally non-reactive surfaces. The indicator light on most cell phones is much brighter. Due to the optics on the front, it is a bit longer than some others. However, it's small enough that you can make a light that uses AAA batteries. The extra length is worth it for better beam focusing. It's probably a bit too big for everyday carry in the front pocket, again due to the AAA battery inside. However, you can conveniently carry it in your pocket while scavenging for UV-reactive items, and simply slip it into your pocket, glove box, or drawer when you're done. It manages to be light for its size without feeling cheap. In summary, this isn't the fanciest light money can buy. But for the money this is a great little flashlight with lots of features and no downsides that I found. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap flashlight that is a huge improvement over the cheap junk on Wish, Ebay etc.
