I've been considering buying a twine winder for a while, after comparing various options, I decided on Standwood. This is the most expensive model I've found, but I can tell you it's worth EVERY penny! Now I wish I had gotten this curler 2 years ago! It took me a while to figure it out and a few strands to find my rhythm. Here's what worked for me: 1. Place the wrapper on a table where you can sit and be comfortable while you wrap it.2. Make sure the metal lever snaps under the spool.3. Make sure you find the end of the strand in the middle. Otherwise you will end up with a mess.4. Place the skein behind the metal holder so your yarn is in a straight line to the winder. Guide the yarn with your hand to add some tension to avoid knotting as you turn the bobbin. Don't apply too much tension or your yarn will stretch. When you have finished winding, thread the end of the thread under the bobbin. 6. To remove the finished ball from the spool, grasp the starting knot and lift the ball off the spool by holding it.7. Loosely pin the knot in the center so it's easy to find when you start your next project. I would definitely recommend this reel if you are a hardcore knitter or crocheter. As you can see in the picture I spent the weekend winding up my yarn stash, what a total disaster! thread the end under the yarn in the spool.6.
