Did an upgrade, first with little bloodshed - from i5 2500K to i7 2700K. I overclocked both by a multiplier up to 48. Then I decided to take the Ryzen 5 1600X, with a complete platform ate. I had to buy x370 board and Samsung M378A1K43BB2-CRC memory. The processor works stably only at a multiplier of 39, but the memory overclocks well - up to 3200. Even with this overclocking, Ryzen loses to the old i5 2500K in games. As you know, most modern games only use 4 threads so far. According to the CPU-Z benchmark, the results for comparison are: i5 2500K = 450/1500 (1T/4T), i7 2700K = 490/2700 (1T/8T), 1600X = 430/3600 (1T/12T). In comparison with the new six-core processors from Intel, alas, Ryzen will not stand next to it. The conclusion is simple - if you are building a new computer and want to save money - take Ryzen. If you are upgrading from older i5/i7, you can still wait. In addition, the effect of switching to DDR4 is zero, but manufacturers have to be sponsored.
