Perfectly protects me, my clothes and adjacent surfaces from splashes during cooking. It also helps direct fumes and smoke towards the hood vents to some extent. Easy to clean in the dishwasher, nothing sticks, so there's no need to rub to avoid scratching the non-stick coating. Didn't rust. Not very big, but seems to work well enough to be customizable (super easy) every time we cook. Would definitely buy again.
