I bought this product to share the power between my trailer and the L2 car charger (6kW) so I can charge my Nissan Leaf without disconnecting the trailer. It worked great for charging the car, but after a few months the air conditioning in my caravan stopped working. We have traced the fault to arcing in a socket on the splitter that powers the trailer. The arc damaged the cable leading to the trailer and one of the two air conditioners on the trailer. This was because the outlet did not hold the trailer's cord plug strong enough to maintain good electrical contact. This error occurred at a maximum load of 4.4 kW from the trailer. The other outlet (used to charge the vehicle) has not failed. Long story short, my cheap splitter (about $100) cost me $1,000 for a new air conditioner. Be careful with this for all non-very-low-power applications. The connector was supposed to have an output of 12 kW (50 A), but was obviously not up to the task.
