Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-52-73L3 Gaming Laptop: Intel i7-10750H, GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, 15.6" FHD 300Hz Display by Brian Weese

A lot of money in a nice package!

Acer has done everything for the Predator. Pleasantly surprised that they used DDR4-3200 (though not the lowest latency DIMM) and a nice fast m.2 NVME drive. The high-performance CPU and GPU fitting into a nicely thin laptop was a pleasant surprise given the heat dissipation required. Very happy with this laptop which I bought for my college daughter who needs a little more than her existing 7 year old 14" Alienware 4th Gen Core i5 GTX-760 - for 3D modeling and graphic design. This makes her school work great, like downloading and using Maya, and her gaming experience is excellent, she can turn the graphics settings almost to the max in all her games! Excellent performance! Upgrading the storage to 32GB of low-latency - Ripjaw 2x16GB 3200 RAM and adding an additional SSD - Samsung 1TB 970 EVO Plus - is a bit of work. This is not the easiest laptop to replace/add RAM or SSD, you have to be very careful. The only thing that confuses me is the difficulty most people would have to upgrade without damaging connectors and such. There are good videos on YouTube on how to disassemble this laptop to access the components that are on the other side of the motherboard (under the keyboard).

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Upgradable
