Review on Experience Gaming at Its Best with Xbox Core Wireless Controller in Shocking Blue by Ognian Nestorov ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like it, thanks for the quality product.

It became difficult to play on a Mac with a wired controller from an Xbox 360 with the launch of Big Sur. Previously, their support was implemented using kernel modules; however, following the launch of a new version of the axis, this store was shut down and a new framework for gaming controllers was added. I was forced to purchase the latest edition. My preference for the controller has expanded to include both its appearance and its feel (I have the white version). The initial controller successfully connected to the Mac without any issues; but, in order to connect the second unit, I had to rename the initial controller. Everything ought to be simpler now that the controller's most recent firmware update has been installed, as the controller's identifier has been incorporated into the device's name. The majority of my games are not compatible with Mac, but I play most of them on the cloud using GeForce Now, where there are no issues with the games and everything works as it should. However, things are not so rosy when it comes to Steam titles for Mac OS X because the games simply do not recognize the controller. While this is happening, the Steam controller itself notices and suggests switching to Big Picture mode, which is the only mode in which the controller can be used. When switching, Steam will recommend installing a driver if it is not already present on your computer. There is a discussion on steamcommunity.com that claims support has been brought up to date, however as of 06/15/2022, it is unknown what the future holds. Another unfortunate incident occurred when Makos advised that the firmware on the controller needed to be updated, despite the fact that everything appeared to be functioning normally at the time. The issue is that in order to accomplish this task, either an Xbox or a computer running Windows is required; users of Macs are left out of the loop. However, about this time, I traveled to another city to pay a visit to some relatives, and while I was there, my son-in-law played through the console.

Pros
  • A more pleasant experience to the touch than the XBox 360 controller. Runs on macOS Big Sur Compatible with the controller. The white controller has a classy appearance. AA batteries are required for operation, although an additional battery can be purchased as an option.
Cons
  • - I have never been successful in getting Steam games to launch on Big Sur. - If you purchase a battery, in order to recharge it you will need to connect a cord to the top of the controller; therefore, I would want some kind of charging stand to be included with the controller. - It is not possible to update the firmware from below the Mac.
