in the case - since they are of course very sharp (that's one of the ideas). They arrived with the tips in a small block of styrofoam-like material, which works well, but it would be great if there was some sort of cap (nothing fancy - not even just a tiny plastic tip or anything) as a block, very inconvenient to store. They are quite small - ideal (in my opinion) for beading and other crafts. I bought 2 other awls at the same time as this set and they are both about twice the size of this one. They're just under 4 inches each (and the handle is about 1/3 that length). In the photos it seems to go around the corner What can be the difference in the length of these awls - no - this is a set of 2 identical awls. They don't seem to hold up to rough/hard use - so I'm glad one of the other awls I bought was made specifically for our tool box (otherwise we'd break one of them trying to use it for a job use of which she was not designed for) ). I'm not sure how well this will work with any craft that requires hammering/hammering, as mentioned I don't think they will hold up. Maybe very simple, but even then I think you have to be very careful. The handle is very smooth and I know that it might bother me a bit in the future, but I think a small square piece of non-slip shelf liner will solve this problem if needed. Also on one of mine there is an odd dimple on the metal cap at the base of the handle. I don't know what happened, but this is just one of them. I doubt this will be an issue, but it probably reflects the overall quality of this product. Ultimately I'm happy with them considering the price I paid - if they were a little cheaper I would probably give them 5 stars. .
