Review on Kayak Hoist Lift: Garage Ceiling Mount with 2 Pulley System - Heavy-Duty 125 Pound Capacity - Ideal for Bicycle, Paddleboard, Canoe, and Ladder Storage Tool by Ryan Schweigert

My kayak is 11ft 6" long and the straps are slipping off the ends as well. My solution was to tie the rope between the hooks a little shorter than the distance between the two pulleys so the straps don't lengthen the ends of the kayak. Speaking of straps, they simply loop on the ends and aren't adjustable like the instructions say Also the extras mentioned above could be for an older design in my opinion. I think they are brake rollers (why 4?) I am talking about 4 bolts/nuts with sleeves. I can say that they are not intended for this device as the two brake rollers are already in place and pressed in. And as I said, the instructions are confusing, black and white close-ups of the brake system are almost useless and waste a lot of time. Also, the two brackets that you bolt to the joists CANNOT bolt as directed (perpendicular or parallel). So I had to add some end caps/boards to each joist to accommodate the 5" brackets to place them perpendicular to the joists. Overall I was able to get this to work in the face of these minor issues. But those mounts, and the inability to adjust the straps as mentioned, significantly lengthened a project that should have taken an hour or two. I am sure that the rope will also have to be exchanged for a nylon rope soon as this cotton rope is probably not good weather outside. I have a kayak hanging from beams below the top deck for the winter. Overall I think I should give a high rating for the quality of the product but a negative rating for a poor guide.
