I lost my original fan remote, this replacement is identical to the one that came with it. You must program the remote to "hear" the fan. After inserting the battery, there are four small switches inside. Since the fan was already installed and I couldn't see the settings on the transmitter, I had to try different switch combinations to get the same settings (16 possible combinations). I experimented for about 3-4 minutes to find the right one and now it works great! Comes with a small holster with screw holes; However, I used the sticky part of the 3M Command Wall Hook (double-sided removable tape) to attach it to the wall - it's super light, even with the battery on, and works perfectly!
