The lid slides up the handle exposing the plunger and it should snap into place allowing you to dive without falling off and getting in the way of the lid. but I accidentally knock it back just to try to control the plunger with my hands. I ended up having to hold it while holding the pen, which is uncomfortable in my hands. And the rubber head on the butt is too soft - it slips into the hole when I try to sink if I don't hit it at the exact right angle. i hate my toilet
