Review on Alien Sunshade Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-2018) – Full Length Mesh Sun Shade For Jeep JK 2 Door - Blocks UV by Darnell Evans

Do not be shy. It works, there are no problems installing it.

A friend bought the Spider shade and highly recommended it. So when I searched for Revain and came across the Alien shade with free 2 day shipping and it turned out to be identical to the product, I went with it. A few negative reviews bothered me, but I knew it was worth it with Revain's easy return policy. I'm here to say that this product is well worth it and below I'll offer some installation tips and photos that should allay any concerns about some of the other reviews. About an hour. Place it on the sidewalk, driveway or patio for even more warmth. This will soften the material and partially smooth out the wrinkles. Then start at the back instead of the front as indicated. This allows for some give when the bungee is tightened around the rear roll bars. Some reviewers stated that they could barely stretch the bungee cords, and one even mentioned that they broke when installing the backrest. I'm guessing they did the back end last and they didn't have a game to play with. Installing the back panel solves this problem. Make sure the bungee is rotated so the ball is behind the seat belt guide attached to the roll bar (see image below). You'll need to tighten the bungee quite a bit, but it's not impossible. After attaching both backings, the curtain will be pushed back too far, but that will be fixed next time. This next step is easiest with the help of a second person. Pull the latch up, over the soundbar and towards the front bezel. Have your assistant stand in the hold and grab both sides of the newly connected lampshade. He/she should pull it forward, stretching those bungees and giving you some room to play in the front. Thread the short elastic through the second hole from the edge. Pull, stretch and attach to the Freedom Panel U-Latch. Switch to the other side and repeat the process. The middle part has two tabs close to each other. Pick the one closest to that "U" bar and use it. It will be off-center but still works without causing wrinkles or awkward shadow locations. (photo) These front three are designed to be off-center on the U-shaped transoms. They allow you to attach liberty plates while keeping the cables out of the way and out of the way. Then move around the jeep and attach any remaining bungees. They all go tight but not difficult. Be sure to position any balls so they do not interfere with reinstallation of the visor and hard/soft top. Spare Plates Freedom. The two grommets in the center of the lampshade are almost perfectly aligned to allow the barrel bolts to pass through them. Several reviewers have complained about this, but I found it takes quite a bit of fiddling to get it working. As for popping at higher speeds, if you notice it, the manufacturer recommends buying small pieces of felt to stick to the soundbar to prevent that popping. I didn't notice any annoying popping noises, but if I did, it should be easy enough to fix. Starting at the passenger console you will need to maneuver the front arm latch through the hole and slide the elastic cord out of the way. The procedure is the same for the driver's side and it requires trial and error, but they will pass and you can lock them in place. If necessary, you can also remove and then reattach the three smaller bungees before replacing the panels. The locking mechanism doesn't seem to get in the way of the cables, so I don't think there will be any wear and tear. Just make sure the cables are out of the way before using the lever. To operate the twist locks, you can put your hand between the grille and the bezel and simply turn it. All of them are pretty basic, except for the central swingarm on the back of the driver's side (located between the driver and passenger). You need to slide the panel into place as far as possible and lower it as far as possible while still being able to reach between the grille and the panel. Make sure that the front linkage also engages. Once you have it positioned correctly, you can extend and depress the center twist center latch. Then lower everything and repeat the lock as on the passenger side. This all sounds pretty complicated, but it only took me a few minutes to figure out the best way to do it. All in all it was an easy install and looks good. You won't even notice it's on ground level. It's thick enough to block out the scorching sun and still let light and wind into the cabin. No rain test yet, but I think it will stop some drops from getting in, though not all. The hard top and freedom panels attach without detaching the bungee. You may have to nudge and relocate some of the cables, but it is possible. Simply put, I got over every one of the few negative reviews on this product. This is a great solution for topless jeep driving on hot summer days. I'm glad I got it.
