I'm a guitarist in a rock band and I've tried SO many different earplugs. I want to hear clean music without muffling and still protect my ears. These are the first ones I've used that do it really well. Nothing beats true custom earbuds, but for those that cost around $300 I like to use Etymotics. The standard tips fit my ears best and are quite comfortable for a few hours. The key is that you MUST make sure you are using them correctly. If you don't follow the instructions (raise your ear and plug it in. Try watching a YouTube video if necessary) they won't fit properly and they won't work properly. If you do it right the first time, you'll know when the plug will fit properly in the ear canal. It is obvious. If you are not sure, they are probably not installed correctly. If they're ok, they work great! I can still hear the highs and mids, but it sounds like the volume has been turned down across the spectrum. A+
