As a MW813 and Men's 623 user, I can say that 623 is a well-made shoe, comparable to 813, except that the toe is more pointed, similar to regular shoes, while 813 is much more rounded and wide box, almost orthopedic shape. Also, the 623 is wider at the waist for the same advertised width. The feeling is a bit sloppy for me in the width of the EE. I have an E width that is very difficult to find. And with almost all shoes, the width D is too small for me. The outsole grips well on paved and hard surfaces as well as well-trodden paths, with plenty of small compartments that help with traction but also pick up small rocks and dirt. If you run or walk on dirt roads or trails, be sure to remove your shoes and clean your soles before entering your home. Otherwise you may have small clumps of dirt everywhere. The upper is great, made from the same combination of leather, synthetic leather and synthetic parts found in most other athletic shoes these days. The heel pocket is well shaped, doesn't slip off and the lacing is more than adequate for a wide foot. They have double eyelets at the top to secure laces or for a tighter fit around the top. Because this is a full grain leather upper, it is not breathable. There are no vents or panels for sweat to escape. With thick socks you could call it a year-round shoe in the mid-Atlantic and similar regions. The lining is thin except for the foot hole. This offers comfort around the ankle, while a thickly padded tongue with centering loops prevents the laces from cutting into the arch of the foot. There is almost no arch support, so I wear a Superfeet or other arch support. thin insert. Complaints and Recommendations: My only real complaint is the outsole design and how it picks up small rocks and dirt. Please note that this shoe feels a little on the wide side, but the pointed toe can compress toes 2 to 5 if too narrow. The shoes fit well. Recommended and I would buy again.
