Review on Intel Core i7-4770K 3.4GHz Processor by Alex Panda

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice high end Haswell.

Works great in a Hackintosh build (Gigabyte ga-z87mx-d3h), idle like my 15.6" 4800MQ laptop, around 28-30C. Haven't uncovered it yet, but I paired it with a HyperEvo 212+ cooler and not a useless standard HS/fan in a Corsair Carbide 300R case. Haven't paid attention to that yet, but will try to account for the high load temperatures when working with Patriot Viper 1600 DDR3 (2x8GB) DIMMs.[EDIT] Prime95 on OSX: Stabilizes fairly well with Hyper 212+ at 60-63 with the occasional SHORT Burst up to 69C. The standard HSF is COMPLETELY useless, replace it with almost anything else ie. Order a CPU with a better aftermarket cooler. A 212 Evo at 3930k performs about the same for me, although idling at slightly higher temperatures, 30C (3.2GHz) average range, 40C- range, overclocked to 3.9 GHz. The Haswell build is MUCH quieter than my 3930k build, but there are more case fans, a larger PSU with equivalent fans, etc., which is to be expected. Liquid cooling as I'm afraid of leaks.[/EDIT]
