These boots work as described. I failed the government test because of a leaky, "dripping" steering system with torn anthers that no longer sealed around the tie rod. I was told I needed a whole new rack and pinion for $1,400 plus alignment, the price of a car. It was hard not to laugh. With my steering working fine despite a very slow leak, I knew I just had to clean the assembly and seal it with new boots. Went with them so I didn't even need alignment, I had to remove the tie rod ends. After lubricating the outside of the bag and stuffing it in the trunk, I slipped the bag/boot over the tie rod and pulled the boot all the way over the bag and the end of the tie rod. The tie rod went through the end of the trunk like it was a birth! Repeat for the twin on the other side of the car. Let's hope that the flexible rubber will continue to provide flexibility for a long time, we'll see. But I call it $1,450 in money saved and my commuter car passed the inspection.
