I received this item as a replacement under Best Buy's warranty. My original power supply had cold boot issues and didn't always seem to power my Kinect sensor either. I waited 2 weeks for Best Buy to order a replacement power supply. When I received it I was very disappointed. Here are the main problems. Poor design aesthetics are okay and pretty much matches the original, with the exception of the erratic LED light. First of all, I mean the internal power supply itself. The design of this element clearly does not correspond to the original Microsoft design, which leads to some problems. This power supply generates a large amount of heat. No variable fan speed. The first thing that struck me about this PSU is that the fan speed isn't adjustable at all. The Microsoft documentation mentions a throttling fan that speeds up to handle the extra heat. This power supply sounds like a jet plane ready to take off when all it has to do is turn on the sleep function on my Xbox One, which draws only 13 watts. The fan runs at full speed all the time. After further use, it becomes clear that this is because the circuitry they opt for in this device generates a lot more heat than Microsoft devices. overheating Worst infraction of all. When using this power adapter, my Xbox One only needs 30 minutes of intense gaming to restart because the power adapter output becomes unstable due to overheating. I have the PSU at the bottom of the entertainment center with the vents next to it. This is technically a "closed" area, but I've never had issues with my original PSU overheating. After doing some testing with both this power supply and my original power supply, it was clear that the power supply was cheap and poorly designed, resulting in very high operating temperatures. Using an external sensor on the outside of both devices after 30 minutes of intense gaming showed temperatures of 80°F on the Microsoft device and 110°F on that device immediately after restarting the console. Avoid this power source at all costs. If Best Buy orders you a new power adapter, make sure it is not from that company.
