I bought this so I can connect four Oculus Rift sensors to my desktop. While this task seems fine, I've encountered a very strange issue: it completely disables all my USB ports before even getting into the OS. I have no idea why this is, but it means I can't even choose which operating system I want to boot on my dual boot system, since my keyboard, which isn't even on that USB hub, isn't is working. (I currently have a PS/2 keyboard attached for this.) This is very strange. When I disabled the hub, the system works fine. If I disconnect everything from the hub so that only the hub is connected, I still have problems. (So I don't use sensors or powered USB cables.) I also checked if this USB hub provides reverse power to my desktop, which many cheap powered USB hubs do. I did this by simply hooking it up to an old Raspberry Pi, which boots back up when you turn it on. It didn't load it. This means that this USB hub does not receive reverse power. (Which is generally a very good thing as it could potentially damage the host machine.) So I don't really understand why this is happening. I would be interested if anyone else had this problem and if so with what device. I am using Asrock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer motherboard. And I've never had any other weird problems like this before. So maybe my desktop has some kind of intolerance, but it looks like something is wrong with this hub to cause this. tl; dr: The hub seems to be well built and does NOT supply any power, which is good. But for some reason it causes problems with my desktop.
