The packaging is pretty thick all around! this made me slightly suspect at first that it would "seal" completely within the filter housing. Of course when I removed it there was still quite a large gap around the filter on the input side around the winding. Because of this gap, the sediment from there fell onto neighboring filters. I have since stopped using them after the first 2 gave the same results. In the future I will only buy filters that have a seal on both sides to seal the filter housing.
