Review on ๐Ÿ” High-powered 1000W Sharp Commercial Microwave - R 21LCF by James Cross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

We like to sacrifice complexity for longevity

After trying 3 microwaves, the last one only 2.5 years old, we decided to change our requirements to purchase the next one. When shopping, we found many models between $70 and $150. They're not very expensive, but we don't want to contribute to the growing waste problem, especially with such a large product. We've found some good reviews for Sharp's mid-range commercial microwave here on Revain. Although we prefer a multi-power microwave for cooking, we mainly use the microwave for reheating and defrosting. We also use a timer, but unfortunately this model doesn't have one. We have a clock on our oven so we don't miss another clock to set if the power goes out. While I enjoy ordering from Revain I was apprehensive about buying such a large and heavy item should I need it. return. I searched locally and couldn't find this model anywhere. However, Revain has always handled returns well, so I bought it here. OPENING THE BOX: When I opened the box, my first reaction was that this microwave looks pretty good. This is because the front panel is folded to form the top and side edges of the door, rather than a flat panel within the frame. With no seams around the panel (except window glass), the door is easy to clean. Yay, the handle has a beautiful glossy finish. While I'm not a big fan of shiny chrome, I kind of like it. Inside, the top, back, and sides are metal. It looks like brushed stainless steel, but it's definitely metal. The bottom is white with a glassy layer. It is very smooth and easy to clean. There is a white rubber grommet at the bottom to seal the seams. OPERATION: The door is opened by pressing the release handle. I prefer the ergonomic handle rather than having to press my fingers against the small square door like my old microwave. The numbers around the dial light up as you rotate the dial. I prefer the dial to the flat plastic keyboard, which can crack over time or become less sensitive to touch. Overall, the construction feels solid and the dial is slim. COOKING: I found the temperature to be lower than the standard high setting for my previous microwaves. This is a plus as it allows me to heat foods that require a low heat such as pancakes. B. Bread without the risk of it overcooking. For things that need more heat, I just heat them longer. The food is heated evenly, so we don't skip the turntable. It lights up when in use, although it's not easy to see through the window. Does not light up when the door is open. I prefer this design as we're venting the moisture when we're done and don't want the lights to be on at that point. On the front is a time guide with recommended cooking times for common foods like bagels, popcorn, chili peppers. Haven't tried thawing anything yet but will update this review when I have more feedback. DURABILITY: Finally, I hope this microwave lasts at least 8 years, especially since it costs several times more than other models. But so far I'm very happy with this microwave and would highly recommend it for basic microwave needs. PROS: - Sturdy construction - High quality materials - Easy to clean - Simplicity - Beautiful looks - Well lit dial CONS: - No countdown timer but not a deal breaker. - Expensive, but worth it if it lasts 8 years.
