Update: Unfortunately, after three months, my dog broke the plastic fastener on it. I thought the adhesive would pull away from the wall under pressure, but it held very firmly. So the reason for the failure was the latch itself. I still think it's beautiful and very easy to set up and use, but probably for dogs smaller than my 35 lb border collie. That's great! I have a dog who is very interested in cat food and litter. This leaves the door a few inches open, allowing the cat to enter without letting the dog in. It's also very easy to open with one finger to get the pin out of the hole. Much easier than navigating through the baby gate we used previously. I'm buying a second one for our pantry - I like to keep this door ajar, and for some reason it swings wide when something doesn't stop it. Note: If you have a dog that will smash doors or otherwise use force to get into rooms, this may still work (seems to be permanent) or may eventually give way. Although I raise dogs and none of them have. Most just try to open the door with their nose, and when it doesn't open, they eventually give up.
