Review on Soothing White Noise Machine with 27 Relaxing Sleep Sounds: Timer, Fan, Rain, Lullabies – Perfect Portable Sound Machine for Babies and Adults by Kristin Morris

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The speaker isn't powerful enough to drown out the noise.

This noise machine actually looks a little better than I was expecting from the photos, although I still hate wood grain plastic and think solid color plastic would look much better. The white USB cable needs to be black to match and no wall wart is supplied so it's a bring your own USB connector. At first I thought it was broken as the power button needs to be held down for a few seconds until it beeps. , you can't just click on it. The controls are pretty self-explanatory. The only trick is that when you go through the sound menu it reaches the end and then you have to switch from the forward button to the back button or vice versa because it doesn't cycle through them. The selection of music and sounds isn't bad, but some of them are odd, for example the sound like a can being knocked, which I think should sound like an old clock. Maybe the kids like it? The only real problem is that the small speaker is very underpowered, so it can't mask noise at all. There is a 3.5mm jack so it can be connected to an audio system or speaker as an audio source to get enough sound. However, if that's what you want to do, why not just play digital nature soundtracks that are available at low cost or for free instead?
