Definitely better than an umbrella!
In all fairness, I did use this on a pretty windy and not too crowded day at the beach. It did work out very well, considering. This was my very first time using it so not sure if it is 100% set up properly, but it did block the sun and stayed still, even when I walked away.
Pros
- So lightweight and fantastic that you leave the sand behind.
Cons
- The shelter may not provide enough shade during peak sunlight hours
