Algae bloomed in my tank out of nowhere for some reason. It was terrible. I couldn't see through my tank. I couldn't even see my fish in the tank, it was damn bad. I did some research and decided to buy this thing. I put it in the water filter away from the fish as recommended, did a 30% water change and took out all the rocks and plants to wash and wipe down the aquarium (especially under the rocks). Put everything back together and put this UV sterilizer in and after 24 hours I saw a huge difference and after 48 hours you couldn't even tell I had a problem. Now I turn off the ultraviolet, but when I feel it coming back I add it back in. This thing worked like magic. I absolutely love the product. Oh, and I also kept my fish in the dark for the first 24 hours. No light or anything. I covered the tank with a blanket. If you're negotiating your purchase, feel free, but remember that you'll also need to do some of the things I've listed above for this to work best. My pool is crystal clear. My fish are happy and so am I with this purchase.
