The driver is provided on an optical disc. For those of you who don't know, a driver is software that an operating system needs to identify and run new hardware components. Without a working driver, the device is useless. If Amazon was serious about making a good product, they would store the driver on a flash drive or provide a download link on the product page. Some people post third party websites to download the driver, but I would prefer to get the driver from a trusted source. People can pack a lot of malicious code into a driver, so you really have to be careful where you install it from. I don't think Amazon has figured out that optical drives are going away anytime soon and most laptops don't have them anymore. Maybe Amazon will be kind enough to send my beeper page when this driver is available on more modern media. Until then I will spend my time organizing the negatives and cassettes. I wouldn't even get that upset if I had to haul a steam engine into town to pick up a new cab. I was only unable to go on Tuesdays or Thursdays because I had to wait for the lamp oil, but any other day would have been fine.
