I have 4 inch stilettos that fit perfectly in the bin standing up. They're bigger than the average shoebox; a basket holds 2-3 pairs of shoes or sneakers or several pairs of flat sandals/flip flops. I also use them to store bags and clothes. The transparent window is very convenient, allowing me to see the content at a glance. You never have to spread them out when trying to access something underneath, simply lift the flip cover on the front and remove and replace your items easily. The linen fabric is cool and the baskets are durable. The only thing I would change is to increase the velcro but it doesn't bother.
