Macbook Pro can't restart while this dongle is plugged in

When I leave it connected to my 2017 Macbook Pro while it restarts, my Mac starts up in recovery mode and says an important security update needs to be installed, to be able to continue using it my Mac. If I remove the key and force a restart, everything works fine again. Also, I noticed that my connected USB keyboard stopped registering random keystrokes after upgrading to Catalina.
