Well I'm a coffee snob and let me tell you and I don't take it lightly to say that, that is by far the best way to brew coffee when done right. I use a gooseneck electric kettle and grind my own coffee beans and brew them on a Hario coffee server with Hario coffee filters and my coffee always comes out perfect. The pourover itself is made of high-quality ceramic and is very resistant to sudden changes in temperature (I heat it in boiling water before use, wash it immediately after use). It has grooves along the inner walls to allow the coffee to drip but not too quickly to ensure proper extraction. I was hesitant at first after reading some terrible reviews of this product, but I can safely say that most of these people got it wrong and it has nothing to do with the product itself. I personally use Hario filters and have not once torn them in use. They filter even the finest "dust" left over from my grinder. My only major criticism of them is that they give the coffee an almost sticky taste if not rinsed with hot water first. This is easy to fix. Another problem people face is using the wrong grind size. A coarser grind, like most US pre-ground coffees, can damage the filter and, due to the nature of the droplets, also prevent the hot water from getting the most out of the coffee. Personally, I grind coffee myself with a manual or electric grinder, depending on my mood, and grind it fine enough for espresso, for example. If you're using pre-ground coffee, I suggest getting something like Café Bustello, which has a finer grind. Another likely issue is that people try to pour too much water into the cone at once, which also results in a watery cup. as it increases the risk of filter breakage. I personally use a gooseneck kettle and slowly pour the water over the thick one after I've brewed coffee. I have never experienced a watery cup using this method.
