Review on HP Chromebook 14-inch HD Laptop (14a-na0010nr, Mineral Silver) - Intel Celeron N4000, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC, Chrome by Russell Robertson

I was in dire need of an economical device to be able to work from home when needed. Therefore, applications like Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, Zoom and the like must be installed on the device. Please note that while you can download most of these apps, the device itself severely limits what these apps can do. For example, you cannot manipulate images in Word or paste them from the clipboard; In Adobe Acrobat Pro DC you cannot convert documents to other formats (e.g. JPEG to PDF, Word document to PDF, etc.), although this is one of the main advantages of buying this software; and in Outlook you cannot add certain email options, e.g. Such as requesting a read receipt, requesting a delivery notification, adding a signature block, adding a reminder to check an email message, etc. Again, here are the main benefits of using a specific application. Please note that Zoom Meeting is not compatible with this device at all. So you can't download the app. Adobe Manager is not compatible with this device at all, although you can download Adobe Acrobat. To get around some of the severe limitations mentioned above, you can use apps through your browser (Google Chome). Unfortunately, this is not a panacea. In this way, when you enter certain programs and try to perform certain actions in them, you will be prompted to enter the application created for this program and, of course, the application on this device is limited. I also noticed that the computer is pretty slow considering it came straight out of the box. I didn't care at first, and I kinda expected it for the price. To be honest, as long as it could handle general office tasks, a task it seems to struggle with, I was fine with the compromise. The device does not right-click to inspect items. You cannot right-click to copy and paste items. The mouse pad has no scroll function. There are just a number of functional issues that need to be fixed if you want this device to work. I don't think it's worth investing in app purchases at all. And indeed, given that smartphones have now become such a ubiquitous and basically essential commodity, I have no idea how this device can fill even that occasional need. I'll end the week with this device and see how it goes. Maybe I'll change my rating if I can figure out how to overcome the device's limitations. I will let you know.
