Our bedroom gets a lot of sun - looks great but doesn't encourage daytime sleep for a night worker in the family. I've hung blackout curtains on standard sized windows but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars to cover an arched/crescent/eyebrow window just above the bed so I bought this one. Man it blocks the light! It doesn't look good, especially if your cuts aren't very precise, so personally I wouldn't use it on a windshield, but our window is along the driveway, so we're the only people who can see it. Outside. It doesn't look good from the inside either, so I'm going to cover it up with one of those cheap paper fans on the windows. Make sure you have the SHARP cutting tool. I used a utility knife with a fresh blade.
