My old HP C3100 All-in-One is a workhorse that has served me well for many years but the scan/copy function hasn't worked in a long time I have looking for a new printer. I need short runs of labels and postcards for my Etsy business and they cost a lot of money to print, but I couldn't print them on the C3100 because they smudge and smudge. So there were searches. Research has shown that there are a small number of home inkjet printers that use solvent-based and dye-based inks instead of the water-based and pigment-based inks used in most printers. If you use solvent-based ink, you won't have the same problem with smearing after drying and curing. The HP Officejet 8600 series is one of the few and one of the very few that HP makes. I like their printers so I went with them. Setup was easy. I downloaded the driver instead of using the floppy disk. I don't have a floppy drive on my laptop and everything went fine. I deducted a star because I had to register online and on the HP website to use the printer. I just hate this crap. Now more of my information is floating around where it shouldn't be. Otherwise, it was easy to set up and get started. I've printed on plain paper, card stock (medium weight), cardstock, matte and glossy labels. Everything printed without any problems, looked great and above all it didn't unwind! Now I no longer have to print labels myself. This printer will save me a lot of money.
