As soon as I took this tray out of the box I knew I wasn't going to like it. I'll say right away that I completely overlooked the fact that it comes with two tiny hoppers that you have to fill those ice molds through. Uhhh. no That would be a deal breaker here. I have other trays similar to this concept that make amazing ice cubes every time (without using tiny funnels the size of a garden gnome). What they have, what this one doesn't, is that by design the top and bottom shells create a vacuum/suction effect when you slam them together. They don't leak and the ice cubes are perfect. This tray doesn't have that. When the parts come together, no vacuum force is created. No matter how you try to fill it with water, it will seep between the two pieces. I've tried several times thinking I'm doing something wrong, I've even tried using those ridiculous funnels and they didn't help. For lack of a better description, the top and bottom must be able to "click" together and create the seal you need if you want your ice cubes to come out as they should. The upper shell simply floats above the lower shell. that does not work.
