Diamond coated ice molds worked best if I filled the bottom half first, then put the top half on top and the top half filled with the small skittles that were included. I experimented with a small amount of blue dye. Diamond ice burst with a tinge of blue.

I really liked the design of my mom's gift but they are sooo small! I wish they were bigger so you could use one diamond per jar for an old fashioned one or something. The best part was the straw that was added so you can fill them through the top cap.

These ice trays were fun! As another reviewer mentioned, I had trouble making perfect diamonds, the top of the mold was often missing due to the constant flow of water from the slides, and it was difficult to tell when the mold was filled with water.

It comes with a small funnel so filling each diamond section is very easy. I've tried making ice cubes with just water, but it looks like jelly is easy! The first thing I can say about these little diamonds is that they are even cuter than they look in the pictures. They attract attention and serve as a reason for conversation. I bought them for a small dinner party and they worked great. I had to make 3 batches but I was ready for this as I only bought one tray. I expected them to be just a novelty for the party. However, they are not only used for one party. They are filled exactly as shown in the photos. No further instructions are required.

As soon as I took this tray out of the box I knew I wasn't going to like it. I'll say right away that I completely overlooked the fact that it comes with two tiny hoppers that you have to fill those ice molds through. Uhhh. no That would be a deal breaker here.
