Like a Perfect Toaster, It Just Works - Failsafe

I bought a Sabrent EC-SS31 1.5" SATA HDD/SSD to USB 3.1 Adapter to connect internal 128- Cloning GB SATA SSDs to three Dell 9020Ms Optiplex for the new Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB is in the works. The cable came with a USB-C adapter which I didn't use. The end of the year is always busy for our company. We'll find out if we can buy new toys, how much we'll have to spend, and insist on getting tax on it all before the end of the year. This year has forced us to move from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but not screaming "new PCs". Instead, it was about "doing what we have better and longer”. Wow! We put these systems into operation in December 2012. I was expecting to replace them in 2017 but they worked perfectly. At the end of 2018 we maximized the installed RAM. everything works - unfortunately i had no experience with cloning hard drives. Oh well done. After extensive research I settled on the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB drives to replace downloaded 128GB boxed SSDs. Reviews, technical tests, etc. have shown that the 860 EVO is better in every way regardless of size, and 1TB should give us enough headroom for the next 5-7 years since the actual storage is provided by the NAS. The userbenchmark.com site was invaluable in this regard. After that, the next step was to connect the drive. Reviews I've read here and elsewhere (including the site above) have shown that there have been many cable manufacturers, but Sabrent has consistently popped up as successful, trouble-free, well-made, solid, reliable, etc. across the board. but the only manufacturer that consistently performed well was Sabrent, regardless of price. That's why I chose the Sabrent, although it certainly wasn't the cheapest. The last piece of the puzzle was the software. It was a real challenge, everyone seems to have their own favorite, but everyone had horror stories and 'fixes' that mostly work - usually from hobbyists and gamers. Accronis was well thought out and available from Sabrent. Samsung also releases software specifically for this purpose that is free to use on its drives. This limits Samsung software reviews, but the existing reviews were very reliable. When I was done, I budgeted the hard drives, cables, software as a purchase, and three days of project time. I figured each machine would idle between 3 and 8 hours. I was wrong! Dell had 128GB Samsung SATA SSDs. The Sabrent cable fits perfectly. Samsung's free software was sophisticated, polished, simple, flawless, smooth and fast. I mean very quickly. The first box, which I expected to take 4-5 hours including unattended downtime just to do the migration, took 30 minutes including physically swapping drives after the migration was complete. The translation itself took less than 10 minutes. The only reason it worked was because the Sabrent cable worked fine.

Pros
  • SATA Cables
Cons
  • Weak Set
