Review on Minka-Aire RCS213 Hand-Held Remote Control System: Convenient and Responsive Control for Your Ceiling Fan by Doug Hawkins

Works alone or with wall control

If you have an old Minka Aire ceiling fan, I recommend calling Minka Group customer service to find out which receiver, wall control and handheld remote are compatible with your fan (and whether it is necessary to replace not only the wall control but also the receiver). For my 17 year old fans it's the WCS213 wall switch, RCS213 remote and P001022100S receiver (described as Minka Lavery Minka Aire P001022100S Up & Down Light along with a picture of nuts and bolts) that I can't seem to find now can by searching for number details but here is the Revain Smile link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00838Z5BK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Please see the WCS213 wired wall control and the RCS213 wireless hand controller has NO button to change fan rotation direction. If you have to climb a ladder to flip a physical switch to change the direction of rotation (should be counter-clockwise for cooling downdraft), you'll need a receiver, wall controller, and hand controller compatible with that type of fan. Wall control and this is a manual control on every Minka Aire ceiling fan but I don't think a wall control is necessary; You could just use this portable controller. If a wall and manual controller (or two manual controllers) are used with the same ceiling fan, they must be set to the same DIP switch code, and this code must be different for each ceiling fan to avoid interference. Recipient. You set the DIP switch code on the wall and/or hand control and follow the prompts to teach the receiver that code, or in other words, to "pair" the receiver with that code so that any wall or hand control in the Near this code will set .controls the fan. The learning/pairing instructions are basically as follows: 1) Turn off the power in the switch box before installing the receiver and wall switch; 2) if the wall switch is off, turn the switch back on; 3) Slide the switch on the wall switch to on/off; 4) Within a few seconds, press and hold the fan stop button (in the center of the large round multi-button) until the fan indicator flashes (do not press any other buttons before the stop button); If the dome light does not flash for a few seconds, release the stop button and press and hold it again (if this step fails, you need to turn off the switch again, turn it on again and repeat the learning process); 5) Release the stop button; and 6) test the wall control to ensure all buttons are working properly. A handheld remote set to the same DIP switch code should also work correctly. I believe that in the absence of a wall switch the above procedure can be used to teach the receiver how to set the dip switch using manual control. Setting a DIP switch code other than the factory default will prevent neighboring fan controls from interacting with each other.
