Installed on my 2006 E320 CDI. There are 2 differences with Mercedes parts, one is minor and the other can be significant. The seal is a normal felt/paper seal - the Mercedes brand comes with a metal seal. The original didn't have anything to clean the block - they don't need a metal clad sealer. That needs a sealant and if I have to replace it I'll have to clean up the mess it leaves behind. From that point of view alone I would prefer a metal spacer. A more serious problem is the idler pulley that screws into the water pump housing - the hole on this water pump that it screws into is unthreaded. If you are ordering this make sure you have an 8mm x 1.75 tap that you will need. Only time will tell, the original has lasted up to 125,000 miles.
