This is exactly what we were looking for! I couldn't find them in stores because now they only sell LED bulbs which are so bright they are like hospital lights. They give off a soft yellow light that's bright enough for a room but doesn't look like a hospital. They last about 6 months in intensively used rooms. We have them in our kitchen, which is one of the most used rooms in our house. UPDATED EDIT: I am changing the rating because I reordered this item after being so pleased with the quality of the first order. In that order, 3 bulbs blew out within minutes of installing! It's not about the lamp, it's about the bulbs! Unfortunately after all the failures in this past order I will not be ordering again.
