I cannot vouch for the durability of this item as it just arrived and was assembled today, but first impressions are good (if not *great*). For some reason I assumed the "shelves" were made of hard plastic, but they are made of a cloth-like material. This can be a daunting task with some of the high heels I have, but taut between the bars they seem to get the job done. Assembly became easier once I realized that it is best to attach the pieces for each "layer" before attaching to a standing/existing structure. Also, pinning one end together and then connecting the long horizontal pieces, threading the fabric, and THEN connecting the rest of the ends seems to work best for me. It should be noted that very high heels have to be put on the side, since there is not enough space between layers (to be fair, this is 6"+ heels). In the end, it was difficult for me to separate myself from everyone , as it seemed to me, " protective shoeboxes, but things are much neater (and easier to pick) now.
