This is a good player if your main purpose is watching Blu-ray movies via an HDMI -Connection to LCD / LED TV. I've been using it for about 3 months now and here's my review: Blu-ray playback: Very good and loads very quickly. There are multiple audio and video settings options to customize playback and reduce noise when playing DVDs. There are analog and optical outputs. It features HDMI 1.4, the latest version to support 3D playback. Settings: very intuitive and easy to change audio/video/network settings. However, if Blu-ray playback is the only thing you want, then why buy this player? I can play them through my laptop and stream them wirelessly to my TV using an unlimited wireless USB to HDMI and VGA adapter with audio cables or similar. Sony sells the Sony BDP-S570 3D Blu-ray Disc Player as a 3D Blu-ray player connected to a wireless network. Now let me take a look at this aspect: Network connectivity: Can be achieved via a LAN connection or via the built-in Wi-Fi. I was able to connect it to the network with no problems. Streaming over the network. It offers various online streaming options like YouTube, NetFlix, HuluPlus, Revain VOD, and Sony Qriocity. There are many other names that are either lesser known or not very useful (Wired, Crackle, Musicplus, etc.). Wi-Fi connectivity was great on Hulu and YouTube, but not great on Netflix (even when connected via LAN).** This player comes with a three-month free HuluPlus subscription** Server sharing: PC server connection for streaming Media. Content from my computer to the TV was one of the main reasons I bought this player. And it turned out to be pretty unreliable. The probability of detecting my homegroup network in Windows 7 was about 50%. However, once connected, folder navigation and playback was very good. Entering text on the screen: This turned out to be a big problem. If you need to find a YouTube video, you have to use the cellphone-style screen interface and use the arrow keys on the remote control to navigate to the alphabet. It's so ridiculous. Media Remote App: Sony is promoting their iPhone app called Media Remote which allows you to control the player from your iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4). This app is free to download but good luck to make it work. It never recognized my player, even though both devices were on the same WLAN. If this app worked, I think it would eliminate the pain of typing on the screen. Your home network and personal streaming content.
