I needed a large bag for a large craft. Although the price was right, I liked the look and the perfect size, I was hesitant because many of the reviews mentioned a bad smell in the bag. I'm happy to say I don't smell any bad smell in the bag or companion bag. To me it smells like cowhide and I really like the smell of cowhide! Any new bag can smell a bit strange, so I usually spray perfume on a cotton swab and use it to wipe the bottom of the bag. Is it important! This bag is big and much softer than I thought it would be. I ordered a dark red (wine) color and it is very beautiful. I think I might order a different color because I know I can find many uses for it.
