Review on 🐙 Enhanced Control with BIGTREETECH Direct Octopus Supports by Tyler Cooley

I bought this for my Mendelmax build I'm working on. The title says "Octopus v1.1" but for some reason I got "Octopus v1.0". However. I finally hooked it up and tried it out. BigTree has firmware for Marlin, Klipper and RepRapFW on Github. First I tried marlin. I have a connection but the limit switches didn't work. I finally gave up on Marlin and switched to RepRapFW. Earned after long excitement. I bought a WiFi module, but when the WiFi module is installed, the board does not boot. I'm still trying to figure out why. I've managed to get RepRapFW working and doing what I need, although I still need to tweak a few things before I get decent prints. I'm new to Klipper so haven't tried it yet. Conclusion: This board is for advanced users. If you're not comfortable figuring out the wiring and digging into the source code, don't bother as there is no support from BigTree. There is an instruction manual with some brief details. The best thing about this board is that they provide a schematic so I can at least figure it out myself. I've been to their website and tried to ask questions on their "forum" but I can't register. Their general WordPress forum complains that it's not set up properly to send emails, which means my account can't be verified and as a result I've never been able to ask a question on their forum. I tried to contact them through another "guarantee and refund" email address on their website but still got no response. It looks like if you buy this you'll be pretty much on your own. BigTreeTech - if you're out there, please at least fix the forum registration process so I can connect with other users and we can help each other solve our own problems!
