. The choice was between this and Thermapen. We're fed up with store-bought disposables that fall apart or lose size after just a few uses. It's been accurate for the months we've had it and overall we're very happy with it. If I had to make one really small complaint, it would be that the keys don't have a great deal of resistance, so if not held carefully you will inadvertently delay the temperature reading or go from degrees C to degrees F. great product .Update after one year: Problems when turning the device on and off. It took two or three tries, and then it started to drift. If you feel comfortable, read on. The problem is that the microswitch works when the probe is unscrewed. It kept stopping making contact, and even when the thermometer was turned on, the connection created enough resistance that the temperature reading would drift. Removing the micro switch and installing the small on/off switch was easy and kept the original unit looking new. Also emailed Taylor customer service was great at supporting their product but sent a defective replacement. New update: Taylor customer service was quick to send out a replacement and the 3rd time was truly a charm. Since then, the third device (different color, but same basic layout) has been running absolutely reliably.
